This class is for dancers with a previous hip hop background. The class will also give you an introduction and explanation of Bachata, club style Cha-cha and Merengue. You will listen to Salsa music to identify the Salsa beat and learn "Cuban" hip motion. You will learn transitions in and out of all three positions, how to lead or follow a partner, and some turns to "wow" them on the dance floor. This approach to dance cultivates dynamic relationships informed by and influential to the world. In this academic program, dance is personal, physical, social, and political. The Division of Dance is a laboratory for exploration, integration, and conscious action: an ecosystem where emerging artists practice, connect, create, and reflect with depth and permeability. Here is a little about the program at San Diego State. SDSU has 3 main dance classes, and you can also choose to major in dance and recieve a degree. San Diego State offers various dance classes for credit, and this is a great way to not only express yourself but to get credit for being creative. Not only is dancing a great way to relieve stress, but it is great exercise.
